10 Ways To Improve iOS 7's Battery Life

iOS 7 comes with plenty of great new features, but some features may drain your battery faster, which you might not need them.

Here are some tips to improve iOS 7's battery Life

1. Turn off Parallax
Settings > General > Accessibility, Set Reduce Motion to on
Parallax in iOS 7 makes everything look a little bit 3D with moving wallpaper


2. Turn off Bluetooth, WiFi and AirDrop when not in use
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up the Control Center
AirDrop is a new feature to share files



3. Turn Brightness down or disable Auto-Brightness
Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness
Or swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up the Control Center


4. Don't use Dynamic Wallpaper
Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness


5. Disable Auto Downloads
Settings > iTunes and Apple Store
iOS now downloads app updates from the App Store automatically,


6. Turn off Background App Refresh
Settings > General > Background App Refresh
Background App Refresh lets apps run in the background and continually refreshes content


7. Change Location Services and Advertising Settings
Settings > Privacy > Location Services, disable any options you don't actually need
Settings > Privacy > Advertising, set Limit Ad Tracking to on


8. Change Notification Center Settings
Settings > Notification Center, choose only what you want to be notified


9. Change Spotlight Settings
Settings > General > Spotlight Search, choose only what you want to index
Spotlight takes battery power to index all of your stuff


10. Fetch New Data
Settings > Mail, Contacts and Calendar > Fetch New Data, choose fetch settings instead of push

Message Timestamps
Slide text messages to the left to see the messages timestamp in Message app

Closing Multiple Apps
Double click the home button, then swipe up to three apps at the same time by using three fingers and dragging them upwards to close multiple apps at once

Block Calls & Messages
Visit Settings > Phone > Blocked
Add numbers you want to block

Fingerprint (iPhone 5S only)
Settings > General > Passcode & Fingerprint
If you want to know which fingers you’ve scanned, simply touch one of your fingers to the Home button, one of the rows will turn grey for a second

Burst Mode

Google Reader Alternatives




Google Reader will not be available after July 1, 2013.
Here are some Google Reader alternatives you can probably try out, before Google Reader turns off the lights.

Feedly http://www.feedly.com
Currently sync with Google Reader, and they're building a new syncing engine so users can continue using the service even after Google Reader shut down.
Feedly offers browser extension, mobile app for iOS and Android.

NetVibes http://www.netvibes.com
Import your Google Reader subscription by export them from Google Takeout (https://www.google.com/takeout/), or re-subscribe by pasting in URL.
Netvibes have a mobile site designed for smart phone.

If This Then That (IFTTT) https://ifttt.com/ 
IFTTT is a service that lets you create connections between difference services. You can create a RSS connection to post to your Twitter, or email to yourself, or etc.

Boxcar http://boxcar.io/
Add RSS and read them online with Boxcar. Boxcar offer mobile app for iOS, with push notification support. Boxcar is supported by IFTTT too.

Facebook / Twitter
Alternatively, you can find out the Facebook / Twitter page of the website you currently subscribed, and try to follow from there.

Goodbye Facebook Clutter, Revamped News Feed


Facebook will revamp current news feed, to cut clutter, and transform into a "personalized newspaper".

More space for news feed by slimmed down navigation elements on the left to column of icons, look much more like the mobile app. Feeds like photos, videos, albums, maps & articles are now bigger in news feed, and more visually engaging.

Choice of Feeds
New filters like music & photos have been added for news feed, to drill down front page and top news section into topic you want.

Everywhere You Go
The new design will be applicable for all devices - on mobile, tablet, or web. The new Web version will be rolling out slowly to users, and updated iOS and Android apps will be available in the next few weeks.
