10 Ways To Improve iOS 7's Battery Life

iOS 7 comes with plenty of great new features, but some features may drain your battery faster, which you might not need them.

Here are some tips to improve iOS 7's battery Life

1. Turn off Parallax
Settings > General > Accessibility, Set Reduce Motion to on
Parallax in iOS 7 makes everything look a little bit 3D with moving wallpaper


2. Turn off Bluetooth, WiFi and AirDrop when not in use
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up the Control Center
AirDrop is a new feature to share files



3. Turn Brightness down or disable Auto-Brightness
Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness
Or swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up the Control Center


4. Don't use Dynamic Wallpaper
Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness


5. Disable Auto Downloads
Settings > iTunes and Apple Store
iOS now downloads app updates from the App Store automatically,


6. Turn off Background App Refresh
Settings > General > Background App Refresh
Background App Refresh lets apps run in the background and continually refreshes content


7. Change Location Services and Advertising Settings
Settings > Privacy > Location Services, disable any options you don't actually need
Settings > Privacy > Advertising, set Limit Ad Tracking to on


8. Change Notification Center Settings
Settings > Notification Center, choose only what you want to be notified


9. Change Spotlight Settings
Settings > General > Spotlight Search, choose only what you want to index
Spotlight takes battery power to index all of your stuff


10. Fetch New Data
Settings > Mail, Contacts and Calendar > Fetch New Data, choose fetch settings instead of push

Message Timestamps

Closing Multiple Apps
Double click the home button, then swipe up to three apps at the same time by using three fingers and dragging them upwards to close multiple apps at once

Block Calls & Messages
Visit Settings > Phone > Blocked
Add numbers you want to block

Google I/O - Google Glass / Google Chrome for iOS / Google Drive / Google Now

Here are highlight of some interesting products showcased in Google I/O.

Google Glass
An amazing demo for Google Glass live skydiving involving with a group of skydivers using Google+ hangout, jumped out of a blimp above San Francisco and landed on the roof of San Francisco's Moscone Center, where Google I/O was taking place.

Google Chrome for iOS
The getting popular browser is now available for iOS. It's using Safari as the core, but surprisingly quicker than the native browser. It has a number of cool navigation features and support sync for settings, tabs, bookmarks etc. Tabs opened on computer can be accessed and continue reading in the Chrome on smartphone.


Google Drive
Google Drive is now available for iOS.  Files on Google drive can also make available offline for viewing in iOS. Offline editing and real-time collaboration is now possible on Google Drive online page. Real-time collaboration allow multiple users editing a document simultaneously from different devices, and have the changes all appear for all users (still remember Google Wave?).

Google Now
A new product expected to first available for Android, that will attempt to "gets you just the right information at just the right time". Similar with Siri on iOS, but what it does differently is to proactively "push" you every information that you appear to be interested, such as traffic information or restaurant nearby based on your location. It will do even more, when you have an appointment, it checks traffic so you can know how long it'll take to get there and notify when you should leave.

iOS 5.1 / iOS Features You Might Not Know / iOS 5 输入法

Apple had just released iOS 5.1, here is the highlighted changes:
-Japanese language support for Siri
-Add Permanent Camera icon that allows the user to start camera while the device is locked
-Camera face detection now highlights all detected faces
-App Store download limit over 3G increased from 20 to 50 MB

Jailbreaker
However, always hold whenever a new version of iOS is released if you are a jailbreaker.
You will lose your jailbreak, cydia, and all your tweaks if you do the update.
You should wait until a new jailbreak is released.

Here are some features introduced in previous iOS release that you might not know:
Notification Center
-Hold the notification icon on lockscreen, and swipe to unlock and go to the specific notification.
-Drag on lockscreen to see list of notifications

Music
-Ability to delete songs from device (by swiping over the corresponding song).
-Tap and hold on a song to view extended song information.

Calendar
-Can now create, rename, and delete calendars right on the device.

-Ability to rename your device.
-The Usage screen is improved and now shows how much of the memory is consumed by each app.

Keyboard
-Ability to create keyboard shortcuts (autotext) to replace custom phrases. By default includes “omw” which expands to “On my way!”.

PC-Free
-Ability to wirelessly sync to iTunes over Wi-Fi added (an initial tethered sync is needed to pair them together and the setting must be enabled in iTunes).
-OTA delta software updates: from iOS 5 forward, devices can now self-update the system software right on the device itself through Wi-Fi or 3G. No iTunes needed.

VoiceOver
-Option to speak text selection.

General
-Built-in system-wide dictionary (press and hold on a word gives the option to copy or define. Define brings up a view with definition of the selected word).
-Customized vibrate alert patterns (can be set per-contact).

How to Convert iTunes MP3 to Ringtone



  1. Open iTunes and find the MP3 you want to convert. Right-click the song and choose "Get Info".
  2. Click the Options tab. Check the Start Time and Stop Time boxes, then enter times for the ringtone (maximum length for a ringtone is 30 seconds).
  3. Click OK, then right-click the song again and choose "Create AAC Version". A new 30-second version of the song will be created in music library.
  4. Right-click the new 30-second version song and choose "Show in Windows Explorer". Copy the converted m4a song to a temporary folder.
  5. Change the file extension from .m4a to .m4r. If you cannot change file extension, open Folder Options from Control Panel, click View tab, uncheck the "Hide extensions for known file types"
  6. Double-click it (or drag into iTunes) and it immediately gets added to iTunes' ringtone library.
  7. Delete the 30-second version song from  music library and undo the Start Time/Stop Time changes to the original MP3.
  8. Finally, sync your iPhone. Go to ringtone settings and you should able to select your new ringtone!

iPhone iOS 5 Battery Cydia Fix Tweak is a Scam

iPhone users had been complaining about battery drain problem in the iPhone 4S or iOS 5, and Apple seem still failed to fix the issue.

A tweak named "Battery Fix For iOS 5" was released on Cydia for a price of US$4.99, and everyone had been circling over the internet about this tweak in the past few days. However, according to recent news, this tweak is in fact a scam.
